Philippians 4:8

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. "

These may seem like strange pictures to use as part of a blog about Philippians 4:8 but these are all photos of situations or people that help me follow the advice in the verse. I have a lot of difficult days. Days where nothing goes right or it seems like I get nothing done. I tend to look at life like a "to do" list instead of a journey. On the journey God has included many true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, praise worthy and things of good repute. But I get too busy looking at the laundry piling up in the basement or my disobiedent child to see how cute my six year old is with his dimple and crooked front tooth. Really he is adorable even with the hateful look on his face. God wants me to dwell on the beauty He has put in my life because He knows that will make me strong to face the difficult.

Nature Study

I will be the first to admit that I do not enjoy doing nature study. I love flowers and trees. I really enjoy watching birds from my living room window. But as a mom I need to take my children out to experience nature. So, we went for a walk on a horse trail not too far from home earlier this week. In one picture you will see Scatterbrain holding a feather she found. I was mainly concerned with helping the kids identify trees on this walk so that accounts for the tree bark pictures. I like identifying flowers so the ones that were new to me I also took photos of. My kids think I know every flower in God's creation. We'll be running down highway 63 at 70 miles an hour and I will hear from behind me "What was that yellow stuff?" I am not that good.

My Dad

We had a week long visit from my Dad last week. As usual I took very few pictures. This is one we got on the evening we celebrated his birthday. He is such a great guy. I wish we could see him more.

No more corn on the cob for me!!

It happens to most all of us .Hopefully it only happens to you once!! Without those two front teeth it is hard work to enjoy summer corn on the cob.

Summer Softball

ScatterBrain played softball for the first time this summer. She had fun and learned a lot.
